During a routine examination of the traveller’s cabin baggage, officers noted seven Lindt Lindor assorted dark‑chocolate tubes, each marked at 387 grams, which appeared unusually heavy for the product.
The DRI team opened the tubes and discovered 207 light‑yellow, oval‑shaped capsules concealed among the chocolates. Each capsule contained a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine using a narcotic drug detection kit, officials confirmed. The total gross weight of the seized cocaine was 4.9 kg, an amount estimated to have an illicit market value of about Rs 24.5 crore.
The passenger was immediately arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The seized contraband has been handed over to the appropriate authorities, and a detailed investigation is underway to determine the broader network involved in the shipment.
